February 9, 2026 - Not every couple has the luxury of working in the same building as their spouse, but for this married pair, that is how their love began. The Pippert’s found each other through their love for teaching, and together they continue to dedicate their lives to helping students be successful.
Forensic Science teacher and ESports coach, Sam Pippert is in his 4th year at Pieper High School. Joining him as a new teacher to the campus, Mandy Pippert teaches freshmen English. Though the pair calls Pieper home, they were first introduced to each other while teaching at Smithson Valley High School.
Mandy and Sam officially met during an end of the year organizational health survey, and from that point forward the teachers became friends. As their friendship grew, so did their spark.
“I was going through a rough patch and he was my friend through it all. He would even spend time with my kids, which was important to me,” said Mandy, who has been married to Sam for four years. “Eventually something just… shifted.”
The Pippert’s shared profession allows for a deeper understanding and support for one another, from helping set up each other's classroom, to being a safe space to confide in at the end of a long day. The pair also share the same values as educators.
“I don’t think either of us looks at teaching as our career, It’s our life,” said Sam. “I love ESports and I love forensics. I love when a student tells me that they got into a college or that they got a job they’ve been wanting. We are here for the kids and really nothing else.”
Their passion for teaching focuses on positively impacting students, and working together presents a unique opportunity for them to help each other develop professionally.
“Mandy’s compassion inspires me to reflect on my own teaching, and apply more compassion towards my students,” Sam explained.
Mandy finds inspiration in the relationships Sam builds in his classroom. “Sam knows his students so well, and he notices when things are different or off with any of them. I know my kids too, but not to the same level.”
Outside of school, the Pippert’s prioritize each other’s mental health and relationship, so they can be their best selves in the classroom.
The Pippert’s devotion to their students and unwavering support of each other shows how healthy relationships can positively impact not only the individuals lives, but all those around them. They are an inspiring example of two educators finding each other and Growing Greatness in Comal ISD.
Thank you Sam and Mandy Pippert for sharing your Path to Success with Comal ISD
