September 20, 2024 - The Comal ISD Board of Trustees approved an hourly rate pay increase for bus drivers during its regular board meeting Thursday, Sept. 19.
The increase includes a minimum hourly rate of $19 from $16.24, a midpoint hourly rate of $24.50 and a maximum hourly rate of $30.
Funding for this adjustment was part of the 2024–2025 General Fund budget adopted by the Board of Trustees in June. Current bus drivers will have this year’s salary adjusted retroactively as of July 1, 2024.
The 2024-2025 Compensation Plan was approved on May 16, 2024. That plan included the Auxiliary Employment Schedule and the Job Title of Dispatcher, Map/Tech Driver, Routing Specialist, Transportation Student Management Specialist, Behind the Wheel Trainer, Lead Dispatcher, Safety Trainer and Bus Driver. Due to market conditions, a separate Employment Schedule was needed for transportation employees to compete with neighboring districts to recruit and retain current transportation employees.
Local Policy requires a compensation plan to be approved by the Comal ISD Board of Trustees prior to the adoption on the General Operating annual budget.
