Canyon Lake Hawks Baseball Team Hosts 6th Annual Community Food Drive

Feb. 3, 2023 - Helping the community has become a tradition for the Canyon Lake High School baseball team which hosts an annual food drive for the Canyon Lake Resource & Recreation Center (CRRC) Food Pantry every year.

This year marks the team’s sixth year to host the drive with players collecting more than $400 and two pallets of non-perishable staples. The collection begins on the CLHS campus and is followed by a collection at Brookshire Brothers on a Saturday.

January is the perfect time for this annual food drive since the pantry is usually running low on almost all needed items. The team speaks to the CRRC staff before it begins collecting in order to receive an up-to-date list of those items including toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, canned stew, chili, cereal and bread. This drive literally restocks the shelves of the pantry.

The Hawks enjoy giving back to the Canyon Lake community which supports and encourages them throughout their baseball season and year.

The CRRC Food Pantry is grateful for the team’s continued support especially as the need for its services rises. It reported receiving 6,233 visits in 2022.
