Clear Spring Elementary School believes that parents are a valued asset in their child’s education.  Research shows that students are more successful when their parents/guardians are actively involved in their child’s education. The Title I Parent Involvement Guidelines, along with the School-Home Compact, were designed to guide expectations of everyone in direct impact on our students’ education.  They were both created with the assistance and approval of parents, community members, and the school.

 

CSES is a Title I school.  What does this mean exactly? Title I is a federally funded program designed to provide a high-quality education that will enable all children to meet the state’s student performance standard, which is a school wide program intended to improve student academic achievement.  Title I is a part of the “No Child Left Behind Act” passed by Congress in 2002 which provides funds researched-based supplemental instruction in reading, math, science, and social studies, based on academic need.   

 

As part of Title I requirements, the guidelines are reviewed and/or revised annually by a group of administrators, school staff, community members, and parents/guardians in accordance with federal law.  These guidelines will be translated and provided to families into the language that our parents and families can understand.

 

Clear Spring Elementary School conducts two Title I Meetings during the school year, one in the Fall during the 1st quarter and one in the Spring, in the last quarter.  These meetings will provide information on Title I laws, requirements, and the rights of and benefits to parents and students as well as allowing parents, its community members and school administrators to update the current School-Home Compact and the Title I Parent Involvement Guidelines, as needed.  Parent/Teacher Conferences are also held as an opportunity for parents/guardians to make suggestions and participate in decisions relating to their child’s education.

 

Family/Guardian involvement is very important to Comal ISD.  Clear Spring Elementary offers the assistance of a Title I Specialist who is the liaison between the school, families, and the community.  The Title I Specialist will be provided with information on how to reach out to, communicate with, and work with parents as equal partners, implement and coordinate parent programs, build ties between parents, the school, and the community.  Information related to school and parent/family programs, meetings, and other activities is sent to the parents/families via the student and various forms of media, to include email and other forms of communication.

 

CSES will communicate with parents/guardians to get involved and participate focusing on the student’s academic learning by using a variety of methods to include monthly campus newsletters, emails/texts via Remind, school marque flyers, school messenger emails, agendas, social media, Skyward, and the campus website.  To help improve communication in our schools, parents/guardians and school staff will work together allowing us to help guide parents/guardians to improve their children’s academics and to be successful learners.

The purpose of the CSES Title I Student-Family-School Compact is to identify the shared responsibilities of our families, students, school staff; to guide our students in achieving the high academic standards of the State of Texas.

Family

 

  • Build and develop a partnership with school staff
  • Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Communicating with teachers about student progress
  • Attending and participating in school activities and parent training workshops
  • Volunteering on campus and/or school events
  • Establish a routine to check backpack and folder daily
  • Monitoring attendance including arrival and dismissal times
  • Assisting with homework and reading daily
  • Review Progress Reports and Report Cards/Nine Weeks Checklist
  • Checking grades and attendance in Skyward for students in 2nd – 5th grade

 

Teacher

  • Building and developing a partnership with families
  • Offering families opportunities for volunteering on campus
  • Communicating with parents regarding student progress in a timely manner
  • Providing a welcoming and safe environment for parents to voice concerns
  • Seeking out family input through surveys and committee involvement
  • Providing a supportive and effective learning environment
  • Providing students with high quality curriculum and instruction to meet the States’s high achievement standards
  • Creating opportunities for parental knowledge of academic expectations to improve student achievement
  • Offering training opportunities to monitor student progress

Principal
